London to Iceland in Two Minutes. Thanks Icelandair!! For a longer slower version check out the helpfully named “London to Iceland in Ten Minutes.”
This was a photo shoot from http://phootcamp.com 2011 in Marfa, Texas, organized by Ryan Schude http://ryanschude.com/ - The music is a mashup I made of a 1938 Acapella recording of “Out on The Western Plain” from http://archive.org/details/EatMyCountryAcapella combined with the Sissy Noby DJ Sega Remix http://www.thefader.com/2009/12/18/premiere-sissy-nobby-lay-me-down-dj-sega-rmx-mp3/ which is a Sissy Bounce track. Pretty weird, I know. Photos featured, in order, by:
This is a trailer for an upcoming time lapse of a trip I shot a few months ago going from London to Iceland. Thanks to Jessica Zollman and Michael O’Neal for collaborating on this one, and to IcelandAir for sending me and two fellow photographers on the trip so that I could make one of my weird time-lapses.
The final two minute video is getting close to done so I wanted to release a trailer. There are about 1,000 photos represented in this trailer, but I shot 52,000 photos total over six days for the full piece. I’ve spent about 230 hours editing and rendering, which makes it by far my most ambitious time lapse to date. If someone could tell me why I keep making these I’d appreciate it.
Speaking of that, it’s 100% my wacky photo project and not an ad for IcelandAir in any way shape or form. They covered our travel costs but we didn’t accept any payment - I simply make these because I
like am addicted to making time-lapses, and they thought it was an interesting way to show a trip from London to Iceland. Also, I fucking love Iceland so I hope you go there.
SF to Paris in Two Minutes
Shot a photo roughly every two miles between take-off in San Francisco and landing in Paris CDG to make this airplane time lapse. Made with a 5d2, a time-lapse controller, and a 16mm – 35mm, mixed with some iPhone shots. The music is a modified demo track “Gain” by DETUNE ltd. denkitribe on the Korg iMS20 iPad App. I’m pretty sure the track is copyrighted but it’s My First Synthesizer score so I’m hoping denkitribe is cool with it. Edits and pans in After Effects CS5 and iMovie.
The photos during take-off and landing are all computer models and totally rendered because I would never use an electronic device during times which the FAA prohibits them. I did get lucky and have a whole row to myself to setup the tripod and gear.
Thanks to my neighbors for not minding an SLR click every 2 to 30 seconds for 11 hours, and thanks to Stephanie and the whole Air France flight crew for being insanely friendly and allowing me to shoot. Thanks to @ztaylor for showing me the Korg iMS20 iPad App. Thanks to @jayzombie and the #nerdbird on the way to SXSW this year for helping me come up with the idea. Thanks to @somnambulant for the idea of live scoring. Thanks to you for actually reading this far. You are a champion.
